While seven innings is the length of a normal high school softball game, B-A took a tough defeat against rival Tyrone on Saturday, losing 5-4 in 9 innings.

B-A was down 4-0 heading into the top of the seventh inning, but Junior Haley Schmidt launched a clutch grand slam to take the game into extra innings.

Despite the valiant effort of B-A, Tyrone Pitcher Cate Baran scored on a wild pitch in the ninth and earned the victory in the Backyard Brawl.

Schmidt and Krystinn Taylor also had doubles for the Devils, who struck out 14 times.

Schmidt pitched all nine innings, walking one while striking out eight.

B-A will play Claysburg Kimmel at home, tomorrow at 4.
