The Bellwood-Antis Lady Blue Devils volleyball team came into the volleyball version of the Backyard Brawl on Thursday fired up and ready to go, taking the first set by a score of 25-22.

Despite the hot start against rival Tyrone, the Lady Blue Devils dropped three straight sets by scores of 25-9, 25-21, and 25-19 to ultimately take the loss in their last regular season game of the year at the Bellwood-Antis gymnasium.

The game didn’t affect the playoff outlook for the Lady Blue Devils, who go into the playoffs as the 10 seed, and will face off against the seven-seed Penns Valley, tonight, Monday October 28, at 7:00.

After the loss to Tyrone, the Lady Blue Devils finished the regular season with a record of 9-9.

Despite the underwhelming record, this season has had its fair share of ups and downs. Senior setter Sydney Lechner hit the 1,000 assist mark and is closely approaching the school record. A few playoff games could help.

The Lady Blue Devils hope to find a way to keep their season alive in the playoffs, on the road at Penns Valley.
