Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis boys co-op soccer team has made it to the District 6 3A championship two years in a row.

The Golden Eagles will face off against the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers tonight at 7 p.m. at Saint Francis University.

Last year the boys lost to Bellfonte in a 2-1 thriller. The Golden Eagles fell thanks to an unfortunate goal that bounced off a Tyrone player and into the goal. Bellwood’s Corey Johnston scored the only goal in the championship last year. He also won the Mountain League MVP.

This year, the Golden Eagles look to avenge the loss of last year, although the journey there was rough. Under a new head coach the Golden Eagles have made it back to a championship, but not under the best record.

“I am feeling good,” said 2104 B-A grad Alex Bartlett, in his first season as the head soccer coach. “We are fully prepared with a great game plan. Now it’s about taking care of our business and executing on a big stage.”

The boys go into this game 6-10-1, whereas last year they entered the District 6 championship with a much more favorable record of 10-10.

The team has lost four games by 1-goal margins.

“I expect a tough game that will come down to a few key moments that will decide the game,” said Coach Bartlett. “I’m confident if we come out with a fierce mentality the result will speak for itself.”

The Golden Eagles with play face to the Hollidaysburg Golden Tigers. The Golden Tigers enter the game 13-4-1. Tyrone fell to Hollidaysburg earlier in the season 3-0 whilst playing at home.
