The Blue Devil basketball team participated in the ninth annual Reliance Bank Holiday Basketball Tournament over Christmas, dropping a pair of games outside the ICC.

The Blue Devils first faced off against the very tough Tyrone Golden Eagles. The boys held on through the first only trailing by 6, but the Golden Eagles slowly pulled away with a 19 point lead going into the half. In the second half the Blue Devils couldn’t put it together and fell to a 75-52 loss.

Sophomore Connor Gibbons had a standout game with a whopping 16 points, and junior Zach Miller had another “double double” with 11 points and 12 rebounds.

After the first-round loss the Blue Devils were set to play Hollidaysburg in a consolation game. They started off slow and just couldn’t get into their groove, suffering a tough 74-24 loss.

Miller was again the leading scorer for the Blue Devils with 12 points, and Zach Mallon was behind him with 9.

“They were some tough losses against some bigger schools. We just gotta get back on a winning streak with Juniata Valley,” said Miller.

Miller is currently 12th in the state in rebounds per game with 10.6, and 3rd in AAA for the state, according to MaxPreps.

The Blue Devils gear up to resume regular season play when they travel to Juniata Valley to take on the Hornets tonight.
