A strong night on the mat secured the Blue Devil wrestling team two victories in their double dual meet last night at the Bellwood-Antis Middle School gymnasium.

In the win over Juniata Valley, Ty Noonan, Aiden Taylor, Alex Taylor, Dominic Caracciolo, Aarron Laird, and Evan Pellegrine had falls for the Blue Devils.

In the win over Central, Xander Shank, Landon Bungo, Aiden Taylor, and Arron Laird had falls.

It was a special night for for BA wrestlers Aiden Taylor, Alex Taylor, and Evan Pellegrine, as all three of them locked in the Bellwood record books by joining the very prestigious 60 point club.

“It’s very difficult to make the 60-point banner,” said wrestling coach Tim Andrekovich. “There are a lot of very good wrestlers who didn’t get 60 points. We only count the 13 dual meets – no tournaments. It takes a lot of pins to make the wall.”

For brothers Alex and Aiden, the feat came in just their junior season.

“I actually didn’t know that I was close to it,” said Alex. “I just try to wrestle my best every match.”

“It feels great because a lot of great wrestlers are in the club,” said Alex.

Pellegrine is a senior, and the accomplishment may be a stepping stone to bigger things.

“It feels good because it’s actually be a goal of mine since seventh grade,” Pellegrine said. “Now, hopefull I can make it to Hershey.”

The squad improved to 11-5 overall with two meets remaining.

The next match for the Blue Devils will be on Tuesday when they host Tyrone.
