Last Friday the Blue Devils put on a show against Williamsburg, putting up 35 unanswered points to win 35-6.

Williamsburg looked to be a threat after they marched the ball down the field on the first drive of the game and punched it in for six, but the Blue Devils answered with a touchdown of their own, coming from senior fullback Nick Plank.

Later, on a short third down, the Blue Devils got the fuel they needed with a  77-yard run from Zach Mallon that put the team in position to punch in their second score of the night, and from then on they never let off the gas.

B-A’s running game proved to be key for the Blue Devils yet again as they had 352 total rushing yards. A hearty portion – 176 –  of those yards came from senior tailback Zach Mallon. Zach leads the team with 535 rushing yards on the season.

The Blue Devils looked to get the pass game going with junior quarterback Zach Pellegrinen going 7-14 with 84 yards, 37 of those coming from senior Owen Shedlock.

“Our line played a big role in the run game last week,” said Zach. “They continue to give us big blocks every week, and it makes our jobs in the backfield a lot easier.”

This win puts the boys at 4-0 on the season, and they are currently ranked first in District 6 2A.

“I thought our guys played really well,” said head coach Nick Lovrich. “We really executed on offense, both on the ground and in the air, defensively we shut them down after that first drive, it was just an overall good performance from our guys.

With only two games left on the season, the Blue Devils look to keep the momentum going and finish with a strong 6-0 record.
