The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis co-op boys soccer team faced off against Hollidaysburg in the 3A District 6 Championship game on Thursday night at Mansion Park.

The Eagles were coming off of an exciting win over Bellefonte. Senior Alex Taylor kicked what would be the game winning goal with under 30 seconds to play.

Alex is one of the Eagles’ best players and unfortunately he was hurt and unable to play in the championship on Thursday night. Tyrone was looking for someone to step up and take Taylor’s role.

Both teams started out with a lot of juice, but Hollidaysburg was able to score a pair of goals to take a 2-0 lead at the half. The Eagles fought hard coming out of the half, but they were unable to put the ball in the net. Hollidaysburg won by a score of 4-0 and took the District 6 crown. The Tigers will now advance to the first round of state playoffs.

This was Tyrone’s last game of the season, finishing with a record of 7-12.

Tyrone will be losing a handful of Bellwood seniors that all started for the Golden Eagles this year. Alex Taylor, Aiden Taylor, Landon Bungo, Andrew Tornatore, and Brendan Andrews all had meaningful roles for the Eagles. Their talent will be sorely missed next season.
