Last Friday was a rebound game for the Devils as they took down the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs on the turf at Mansion Park 25-8. After suffering their first loss to Juniata Valley two weeks ago, B-A picked up the pieces and came back to have a total of 335 rushing yards on the night, 250 coming solely from senior runningback Connor Gibbons.

After a scoreless first quarter for both teams, senior fullback Cooper Guyer punched it into into the end zone for 3 yards to break the ice. The Bulldogs answered with a touchdown and two-point conversion before senior Cooper Keen put up a pair of scores to make the score 19-8 before the half. Gibbons would score the final touchdown in the third to make the score 25-8.

Bellwood finished their regular season with a 9-1 record and move on to play Penns Valley this Friday in the first round of District 6 AA playoffs.

“It was a good way to end the season, especially after our loss two weeks ago,” said linebacker Brandon Cherry. “It’ll be nice to have this momentum moving into playoffs this Friday.”

Head coach Nick Lovrich would concur.

“I was very happy with the guys playing new positions and how they performed. It shows how unselfish our guys are when they are willing to change positions to try and make the team more successful. Going into the playoffs we have the same mindset we have every week; we want each Friday night to be our best game of this year. We will continue to work hard to play our game this Friday night against Penns Valley.”

The second seed Devils host the seventh seed Rams this Friday at Memorial Stadium.
