Girl’s basketball team notches first win of season

The girls basketball team earned a big win over Glendale on Tuesday.

Last night, the Lady Blue Devils hosted the Glendale Vikings in the the season home opener.

The Lady Devils got off to a hot start and got up 13-7 at the end of the first quarter. After the second quarter the score was 28-19 going into halftime. Bellwood dominated the second half outscoring the Vikings 31-13 putting the final score at 59-32 in Bellwood’s favor. This secured the Lady Devil’s first win of the season moving their record to 1-1.

The Lady Devils were led last night by Junior Chelsea McCaulsky scoring a game high 22 points, and senior Jaidyn McCracken adding in 10 points of her own. Junior Lydia Worthing, and sophomore Chloe Hammond were also major contributors adding in 11 points between the two.

The key part of the win for the Blue Devils was the three point shooting. Bellwood was able to drain in 11 threes, while holding Glendale to only one three pointer.

Bellwood will look to build on this win when they host Juniata Valley on Friday (12/15/21), at 7:15.
