The B-A wrestlers hung with Curwensville but lost a close match.

The Bellwood-Antis wrestling team (0-8) hosted their first match of the year against a new ICC team the Curwensville Golden Tide (7-1) last night. Bellwood came up short in their home opener losing to Curwensville with a final score of 39-27.

Seniors Julius Diossa and Aarron Laird and junior Jason Pluebell all logged pins for the Blue Devils, with Ethan Norris winning his match 7-5.

The Devils will look to pick up their first win tomorrow when they travel to Armagh to take on the United Lions.

Lady Devils roll

The Lady Blue Devils hosted the Moshannon Valley Lady Damsels last night at the Bellwood-Antis gymnasium. Bellwood got out to a quick 14-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. They followed up their dominant first quarter by scoring 24 points in the second quarter, while also holding the Lady Damsels to just 6. This brought their lead t0 38-6 at halftime. The Lady Devils ended up costing to a 59-15 ICC victory.

Junior Chelsea McCaulsky was the leading scorer for the Devils with 19 points. Fellow juniors Lydia Worthing, and Alyson Partner both chipped in with 12 points of their own.

Bellwood’s shooting proved to be too much for Moshannon Valley as the Lady Devils rained in 7 three pointer, while giving up none.

This victory improves their record to 4-1, and 3-0 in the ICC North. The Lady Devils will look to continue their successful start to the season when they travel to Tyrone to take on Penn Cambria in the Christmas tournament on December 29th.
