ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Ethan Norris

Ethan Norris took the District 6 tournament by storm last weekend

Last Saturday, B-A wrestler Ethan Norris punched his ticket to regionals after a 2nd place finish at the District 6 wrestling tournament. The performance was quite unexpected considering Norris wasn’t even seeded to make it out of the tournament at 7. However, Norris would avenge 2 regular season losses by beating the 2nd and 3rd seed on his way to a finals appearance. Ethan’s performance earned him Athlete of The Week from the Blueprint.

Norris has had a very formidable season at 215 lbs, being one of the few bright spots of the B-A wrestling squad. Norris has a 20-12 record and is heading to Peters Township to represent B-A at the AA Southwest Regional Tournament. Norris has been winning in dominant fashion all year with 13 pins and 2 major decisions. When asked what has led to his major improvement, Norris stated “practicing every day and drilling hard has done a lot for me.”

Norris was 1 point away from being the first District 6 champion from B-A since Jared Woomer in 2012. He beat 2 opponents that he lost to in the regular season on his way to the finals. Norris was also recognized by many as the “surprise of the tournament” for his efforts.

Norris doesn’t only wrestle however. He is also a very productive member of the football team, with a very likely chance of becoming a 3 year letter winner. Norris totaled 44 tackles on defense from his middle linebacker position, which was good enough for 3rd on the team. With 10 starts on the offensive line, Norris will look to lead that group into success next season as well. Norris is looking forward to his senior year stating “I’m excited to be a leader on the team and have a dominant season.”

The community of Bellwood is proud to have Ethan represent us this week and we wish him luck at regionals and next year as well! Congratulations Ethan!
