Track teams fall to Hollidaysburg

The Blue Devil track teams dropped their home opener to Hollidaysburg Thursday.

Despite the wet conditions, both the boys and girls track and field teams were ready to go Thursday in their home opener against Hollidaysburg.

Boys Track and Field

The boys teams had success in both the track and field yesterday afternoon. Senior Hunter Shawley had an explosive performance with another double win in both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles as well as helping both the 400 and 1600 relay teams to two more wins. Junior Corey Shanafelt also took a win in the high jump with a leap of 5’ 8”.

On the field, Dominic Caracciolo and Eli Pluebell had standout performances. Caracciolo took a win in the javelin as well as a second place finish in the shot put and a third place finish in the discus. Pluebell edged Caracciolo in the shot put to take a first place and along with his win he took a third place finish in the javelin with a heave of 114 feet.

Other place finishers include: Sean Mallon – 200-meter dash (2nd), Ben Ritchey – 400-meter dash (2nd), Weeden – 400-meter dash (3rd), Caedon Poe – 1600-meter run (3rd), Dallas Smithmyer – 3200-meter run (3rd), Camden Bailor – 300-meter hurdles (2nd), Cole Dickinson – 300-meter hurdles (3rd), Dalton Poorman – long jump (2nd); pole vault (3rd), Aaron Laird – shot put (3rd), Dylan Andrews – pole vault (2nd)

Girls Track and Field

Alexis Lovrich had quite the outing last afternoon, walking out a triple winner with wins in the 800-, 1600-, and 3200-meter runs. The girls 400 relay team also kept up with the men, capturing a win as well.

Chelsea McCaulsky had several place finishes on the field with a win in the javelin and two third place finishes in the shot put and discus.

Other place finishers include: Chloe Brown – 1600-meter run (2nd); 3200-meter run (3rd), Shawna Lovrich – 100-meter hurdles (2nd), Sophia Nelson – 300-meter hurdles (2nd), Ava Kensinger – 300-meter hurdles (3rd), Lydia Worthing – high jump (3rd); pole vault (2nd), Chloe Hammond – triple jump (3rd), Alyson Partner – shot put (2nd), Alayna McCaulley – discus – (2nd); javelin (2nd)

Both teams took another loss with the boys falling 91-59 and the girls falling 98-52. Their next meet is tomorrow at Altoona for the Igloo Meet.
