The boys track and field team has had some recent success with a slew of wins coming in multi-team meets over the last two weeks.

One member of the squad has had some standout performances this spring, and that is junior jumper Corey Shanafelt, who has collected numerous wins in the high jump. Most recently, Corey placed third on Thursday in a triangular meet sweep against Mount Union and Northern Bedford.

For his achievements, the BluePrint has named Corey the next athlete of the week.

Shanafelt, a junior, takes part in the 800-meter run and the 800-meter relay along with the high jump, of which he has captured six total wins in.

“My success this season has been made possible through the countless hours of work I put in at practice and outside of it as well,” explained Shanafelt. “My coaches and parents have also helped me out a lot which made a huge difference.”

Corey has been a member of the track team since freshman year, and when asked about what made him get into track, he mentioned that had heard good things about the program from former members.

Corey’s goals for the rest of the season are to earn his letter and achieve a leap of five feet and ten inches.

Good luck to Corey and to the rest of the track team!
