The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis Soccer team played Philipsburg-Osceola last night at the Harry K. Sickler Athletic Fields in Tyrone.

The Eagles won their game 5-4. This win was very important to the team as it was their first win in 2 years. Last year the team went 0-17 and now this year they are 1-2.

“It was a crucial win for us,” said coach and B-A grad Alex Bartlett. “We got up early and battled hard to keep our lead.”

Tyrone went up 3-0 in the first half after junior Conner Bardell scored a goal. It was 3-1 at halftime. The Mounties pulled within one twice in the second half but could never get over the hump.

Michael Labella picked up his first assist of the season.

The soccer team plays at Clearfield tomorrow at 6. They are looking to build off of the win as they get ready to enter conference play.

“This win will give us confidence in other tough, intense Mountain League games later in the season,” said Bartlett.
