Yesterday B-A’s boys and girls track teams swept Juniata Valley and Southern Fulton in a home meet.

The Bellwood-Antis boys won the meet with scores of 130-19 over the Hornets and 111-34 over the Indians.

Top scorers for the boys team were Dylan Andrews, who placed first in the pole vault (14-0), long jump (20-8), and triple jump (38-11); Kole Dickinson, who took first in the 110m hurdles (16.6) and 300m hurdles (44.5); Gabe Thompson, who placed first in the 100 and 200 dashes with times of 11.8 and 23.9 seconds; and Gaven Ridgway, who took first in the 400m dash with a time of 55.8 seconds.

Andrews’ height in the pole vault was a personal best. He had previously peaked at 13-6 outdoors, and reaching the 14-foot plateau put him in rare company.”

“I thought we got a pretty good workout which will help us as the season goes on,” said Coach Nick Lovrich. “Dylan Andrews had a great day with his 3 first places and seeing him jump 14 feet in the pole vault was exciting.  That makes him one of only 2 pole vaulters to break the 14’ barrier in B-A history.  Rudy Bilka, who has the record, is the other one.”

Bellwood-Antis went 5-0 this week, improving its record to 8-2. The Devils’ next meet is against Central on Monday. Some members of the track team will be competing at the United Invitational tomorrow.

The B-A girls also picked up two wins yesterday with scores of 110-40 over Juniata Valley and 135-15 over Southern Fulton.

The girls had many first place finishes with Lexi Lovrich earning three wins by taking first in the 800m run (2:45.6), 1600m run (6:04.21), and 3200m (13:24).

Lydia Worthing took first place in the pole vault, clearing 11-0 to make her the second girl from Bellwood-Antis to clear 11. Record holder Lexi Gerwert cleared 11-6 in 2018. Worthing also took first in the high jump (4-11).

Shawna Lovrich took first in the 110m hurdles with a time of 18.0.

The girls are now 8-1 and their next meet is Monday against Central. Some girls will compete tomorrow in the United Invitational.
