Blue Devils lose Backyard Brawl

On Saturday the Bellwood-Antis baseball team traveled to Tyrone to play the Golden Eagles.

The Blue Devils lost 7-1, putting them at 7-4 on the season. After starting the game down 7-0 after two innings, B-A didn’t have an answer for Tyrone. 

Matthew Berkowitz led the team with 2 hits and Josh Dorminy had the team’s RBI. In all , the Devils had only seven hits off Tyrone starter Noah Patterson.

Chris Walls was the losing pitcher for B-A, allowing 7 runs on 9 hits in 1 1/3 innings.

Tyrone put 2 on the board in the bottom of the first and added 5 an inning later. Nick Kost came in for Walls and stifled Golden Eagle hitters, allowing only 5 hits.

However, B-A couldn’t get its offense going an never plated a run until the top of the 7th, when a single by Dorminy brought home Zach Gonzales.

The next game for Bellwood-Antis is Tuesday at Juniata Valley.
