Two Bellwood-Antis students were named first team ICC All-Stars this week for their standout performances during baseball season.

Junior Josh Dorminy, now a two-time ICC All-Star, and freshman, Camden Swogger were crowned with the titles.

Dorminy, a center fielder, finished off the season batting .353 with a fielding percentage of .938.

“Josh is a model of consistency,” Coach Adam Plummer said. “He anchors the outfield and covers a lot of ground out there to solidify our defense.  When we needed a hit or a base runner, he seemed to always come through for us.  We look for Josh to become our leader next year and also start getting some mound work to improve our pitching staff.”

Swogger on the other hand finished off the season batting .389 and throwing 8 runners out from his position as the Blue Devils’ catcher.

“Cam didn’t play like a freshman this year,” Plummer said.  “We knew his ability coming into the season, but it’s not something that you expect out a kid starting his high school career.  He started behind the plate every game for us.  He led the team in batting average (0.389).  The good news for me and the rest of the team is that we get three more years to watch what he can do behind the plate and at the plate.”

It feels like my work over the off-season has paid off, and that I contributed to the team in a positive way.

Swogger’s personal goals moving on are to hit above .400, register multiple extra base hits, and throw out more runners. His team goals for next season are to have fewer than 3 losses.

“I know we have the talent to achieve this goal. It’s just about putting in enough work as a team over the off-season.”

Plummer said Dorminy and Swogger will play a major role in what is shaping into a promising season in 2024.

“We have a great foundation of underclassmen coming back.  We only lose 1 starter from the 2023 season,” Coach Plummer said.  “I look for these two (Cam and Josh) to lead this team next season, not only with their play, but also vocally.”
