COLLEGE CORNER: Corry Shanafelt

Corry is excited to be a Mountaineer!

Senior Corry Shanafelt is taking the country roads to continue his education at West Virginia University next fall. The public university is located in the midst of Morgantown, West Virginia.

The soon-to-be political science major was impressed with WVU’s Personal Rapid Transit (PRT) System, which was his favorite part of the campus.

“It is a cool and convenient way to get around,” Corry quoted.

After earning his political science degree, Corry plans to attend law school to become an attorney. He found an interest in the structure of the government and “the ins and outs of how government is implemented into our daily lives”.

Even though the university is upwards of two hours away from Bellwood, Corry has no apprehension about being away from home. He thinks the distance is “perfect”, since he’s dreamed of traveling and living elsewhere.

Price, size, and the university’s care for his major were all factors that went into Corry’s college search. West Virginia provides him with the large-school atmosphere, generous scholarship opportunities, and a prioritization for his program.

Corry can’t wait for his college experience and is looking forward to being a Mountaineer.

“I’m excited to meet all new people and just be able to enjoy things away from home,” Corry said.

Congratulations on your commitment Corry, and good luck!
