Now that summer is finally approaching and students are looking for employment, and likely it’s preferably to be local. Start up jobs tend to give teenagers earlier experience in the work force and allow them to learn social skills, teamwork, and how to budget money. (Let’s be honest, you’re only for the money though.) There are so many jobs in our local area but few hire 14-15 year old’s, while others can only hire 16+. So depending your age and means of transportation, it can be challenging to find a job suitable for you. Well, here are the most common jobs kids at Bellwood tend to say they work at (and you could possibly look into as well.)
In third place comes Marzoni’s. Not one too commonly heard of, but the food establishment, located in Greenwood, does indeed hire teenagers. This place is mostly popular for it’s Italian cuisine and bar food. The employee pay rate is the following: Host ($14-$21), Line Cook ($15-$21), Assistant Restaurant Manager ($17-$28), and Restaurant Manager ($24.04 per hour)
Coming in second is Irvin’s on Main. During the summer, Irvin’s has a little ice cream stand on the side that sells Penn State Creamery ice cream, which teenagers most commonly work at, but they also have hired them in other positions. It’s a nice small dinner with a variety of foods and desserts that anyone can enjoy. Their pay is about $10 an hour.
And in first place is Delgrosso’s Amusement Park & Laguna Splash! Almost everyone says they’re working there or have worked there. It also tends to be a first job for most. This job offers a series of opportunities such as cleaning service, food service, lifeguarding, games, and ride operations. Outside of it’s employment, it is popular for it’s food and sauce Due to this wide variety of jobs and the employment of teens, this just so happens to be the most common job local teens have. 14-15 year old’s are paid $7.50 an hour, and 16+ are paid $11.50. Lifeguarding differs, because deep water lifeguards (at special facilities) earn $14 per hour, while shallow water lifeguards earn $12.50 per hour.
