In sports there’s always going to be winners and losers, and sometimes the winners win by a lot. however, one of the best ways to see someone win is when they shouldn’t. When a team stares at the impossible odds and refuses to quit. Comebacks are an amazing thing to watch.
Here are the top 3 comebacks in sports.
1. New England Patriots. During the 2017 Super Bowl the New England Patriots faced off against the Atlanta Falcons. After both teams went scoreless in the first quarter, the second quarter was way different with the Falcons taking a 21-3 lead before halftime. Coming out of halftime, the Falcons jumped on the board early scoring a touchdown with about 8 minutes remaining. before the 3rd quarter ended the Patriots scored a touchdown but missed the extra point. The Patriots would then score 3 touchdowns in the matter of 10 minutes to tie it up and force OT. Overtime started with the Patriots getting the ball and scoring to win the game 34-28. The reason I have this at 1 is because of how impressive this was.
2. Cleveland Cavaliers. Honestly this one is a close second to the Pats. This was insanely impressive. Lebron James and the Cavs were down in the series 3-1. They could have folded and gave up, but they didn’t and ended up making the comeback to win the Finals (first 3-1 comeback in NBA history). One of the things that makes this so impressive is who their opponent was, they had to face off against the best team in NBA history (73-9). In game 5 Lebron and kyrie both had 41 points. In Game 6 Lebron had another 41 piece and hustled like no other. Now for game 7 both of these teams wanted it bad, making it one of the most entertaining games in basketball. Lebron probably had the most important block of his life, and Kyrie had one of the most important shots of his life. Game 7 ended with a final score of 93-89.
3. Boston Red Sox. In the 2004 ALCS series the Boston Red Sox made a 3-0 comeback to win. The Red Sox had high hopes going into this series against the Yankees, but quickly realized it wasn’t going to be easy. The Yankees won the 1st game 8-7, the 2nd game 10-7, and the 3rd game 19-8. Considering a 3-0 comeback hadn’t been done in the MLB before, lots of people thought it might be over. In game 4 the Red Sox tied the game in the 9th inning sending it to extra innings where David Ortiz hit a 2-run home run to seal the game in the 12th inning. In game 5 the Red Sox found themselves trailing late again but ended up doing the same thing and even winning the game by a game sealing RBI by David Ortiz. In game 6 the Red Sox played well and won the game 4-2. In game 7 the Red Sox pitched a dime and won the game 10-3, marking the best comeback in MLB history.
