“I feel the need… the need for speed!” – Maverick & Goose, Top Gun: Maverick (2022)

You might hear many people using this quote today. Especially if they’re wearing aviator glasses and flight suits/leather jackets.

On May 13, since 2009, top gun fans celebrate this day as “Top Gun Day” whereas fans can dress up like characters from the movie and quote them all day.

With the first release of Top Gun back in 1986 having a major success, many people wanted another movie, only 36 years later did they release Top Gun: Maverick. Between this 36-year gap in 2009, fans decided to make May 13 “Top Gun Day”.

Both Top Gun (1986), and Top Gun: Maverick (2022) will be returning to theaters for the 40-year anniversary of the Top Gun series. The USS Midway Museum is hosting a 40th-anniversary celebration of Top Gun with flight deck screenings of both movies over Memorial Day weekend.
