The Tyrone/Bellwood-Antis co-op soccer team scored a huge victory for the program Monday, winning against big-timer Hollidaysburg 5-4 at the Golden Tiger Stadium.

Marissa Panasiti tallied four goals in the first half, giving the Lady Eagles a 4-1 lead going into halftime.

That is ten goals on the season so far for Panasiti through four games.

“My team got a lot of motivation after my first goal and we kept a fast pace which led to three more,” said Panasiti, who was sidelined her junior season with a knee injury.  “As an entire team we dealt with their talents and speed quite well. It was a huge, unexpected win.”

The Lady Tigers made a comeback though, tying the game up with twenty minutes left in the second half. However, just six seconds later, Riley D’Angelo put a shot just over the keeper’s outstretched arms giving the Lady Eagles the lead that they would not relinquish.

This win was a keeper for the girls, defeating a powerhouse soccer school like Hollidaysburg.

The boys’ soccer team also had a game last night, losing 1-0 in overtime to Huntingdon.

The game was hard-fought for both sides with Tyrone showing a great deal of teamwork.

Although a loss was recorded for the boys, it was a personal win for the team.

The boys are now 2-1.
