Burch looks to have an expanded role against Mount Union

The Blue Devils look for its third straight win this season as they travel to Huntington County to take on the Mount Union Trojans. Both teams head into the huge ICC Gold bout with a record of 2-2 and they are also both are undefeated in the conference with both teams being 1-0 respectively.

B-A comes off a solid victory over Juniata Valley, when the Blue Devils handily defeated the Green Hornets 38-27.

Mount Union looks to bounce back after suffering a loss to Moshannon Valley when a score of 42-28 disappointed the Trojans.

Bellwood’s offense seemed to be clicking last week, with a very balanced attack. Jarrett Taneyhill had a solid day going 10-13 and throwing for 170 yards in his second start under center for B-A. Jake Burch contributed to the ground attack with 49 rushing yards and one touchdown. Jake McCaulley and Duke Brunner carried the Blue Devils rushing attack by running for a combined 154 yards out of the 247 total rushing yards for the Blue Devils. McCaulley and Brunner also each ran for two touchdowns.

The duo of Brunner and McCaulley lead the way defensively as well. Brunner led B-A with 12 tackles, and McCaulley followed right behind him with 11. Austin Desch added on to the defensive effort by recording nine tackles along with a sack.

Sophomore Daunte Martin leads Mount Union this season with a total of 371 rushing yards which is good for 92.8 yards a game. He also leads the team with 6 touchdowns this season. Linebacker DJ Bookwalter has been stellar all season long with his defensive effort. He leads the Trojans with 47 tackles this season.
