Mr. Sachse and members of the marching band prepare to start road cleanup.

Makala Doyle, Staff Writer

This past weekend, on October 17, the Bellwood-Antis marching band took time out of its day to clean the road from Interstate 220 to Old 6th Avenue. They were there for over two hours.

The band tries to do this type of community service twice a year.

When asked about the service, Mr. Sachse said, “We feel that is important to help out. I inherited a two-mile stretch of the road for the band. We are happy to do our part in the community.”

The Band members that attended all feel that this was a great thing for them to do. They felt that it was worth spending some of their weekend time doing something good that would benefit the community.

It was nice to band with others and have fun, but all the while still clean to keep the town in good shape.

The following students took the time to clean: Brodee Wyland, Dominic Tornatore, Morgan McDermott, Willie Williams, Noah Maceno, Alanna Vaglica, Kaitlyn Farber, Amanda Baldwin, Julie Bauer, and Katie Hamer.

Alanna Vaglica said, “It was nice to band with others and have fun, but all the while still clean to keep the town in good shape.”

Luckily, they were able to enjoy the day with the nice temperatures and clear weather

The band hopes to do more community service like this again and we encourage everyone to follow in their steps and help out the community by doing some community service!
