The Bellwood-Antis boys’ basketball team beat the Moshannon Valley Black Knights last night in blowout fashion, with a final score of 76-44.

Senior Nathan Davis led the Blue Devils in points with 22 points, with Jake Burch contributing 16, and Joey Padula and Trent Walker each adding 10.

In the 2nd quarter we showed glimpses of what we played like last year and that was enough to get the score out to a comfortable lead.

The game was tied up after the first quarter at 13-13, but then Bellwood exploded in the second quarter with 31 points to bring the lead to 44-25 at halftime.

“I don’t really know if we came out slow, but we weren’t getting a lot of steals or getting transition,” said junior Joe Padula. “In the second we were getting steals and pushing on every rebound. We just didn’t have the urgency to start the game.”

The Devils outscored the Knights 20-9 out of the locker room to put the game away.

“In the second quarter we showed glimpses of what we played like last year and that was enough to get the score out to a comfortable lead.  And to get some other people into the game, for some valuable playing experience,” said senior Nathan Davis.

The win improves Bellwood’s record to 3-0 on the year, with their next game on Friday at home against the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs.
