The Bellwood-Antis boys’ basketball team beat the overmatched Williamsburg Blue Pirates on Saturday in Bellwood with a final score of 76-45.

Nathan Davis led all scorers with 27 points, Joey Padula pitched in 15, with Jarrett Taneyhill, Jake Burch, and Noah D’Angelo adding 9, 8, and 7 respectively.

B-A did not show any signs of looking past Williamsburg at their big match-up tonight against the Warriors of West Branch.

“We performed well, to keep our ICC hopes alive. Now we are on to the next task, West Branch,” said Noah D’Angelo.

The 16-1 Warriors defeated the Blue Devils 60-54 in Allport on January 8. B-A led much of the game but collapsed in the fourth quarter. West Branch leads to ICC, while the Blue Devils are one game back.

“We know they are a very good team and this is a very big game with a lot of implications, but we’re going to come in loose and treat it like any other game,” said senior Nathan Davis about West Branch.

With the win, Bellwood improves their record to 16-2 on the year.

At halftime, the basketball booster club celebrated Alumni Night by recognizing the program’s seven 1,000-point scorers, including all-time leading scorer Nathan Davis, his brother Noah, who was back from Seton Hill University following an NCAA game against UPJ, and current head coach Brent Gerwert. Also on hand were middle school teacher Steve Conlin and his brother Kevin, as well Randy Geis, 2000’s scorer Ryan Myers, and the program’s first 1,000-point scorer: Gary Hribik.
