The Blue Devil softball team took care of business in their fourth straight game as they bested Williamsburg 14-0 in five innings.

Junior Maddie Miller pitched a shutout for Bellwood-Antis with Williamsburg’s only hit coming off of a bunt. Miller also had six strikeouts and only walked one.

“Maddie pitched really well and the team came together to keep the offense going,” said Caroline Showalter.

Bellwood, on the other hand, had eleven hits that scored their 14 runs. Laycee Clark and Saige McElwain led the team with two hits each.

“The kids are really seeing the ball well,” said head coach Jim Payne. “They continue to be consistent with their pitch identification.”

Taylor Shildt, Edyn Convery, Sarah Knisely, Caroline Showalter, and Kelcie Dennis each had an RBI in the win while Krystina Taylor added two RBI’s and Laycee Clark added three.

Coach Payne also said, “As long as we keep climbing and getting better it should work in our favor.”

The defending District 6 AAA champions are now 4-0 and have beaten all of their opponents by at least eight runs.

The Blue Devils next game is Thursday at 4:30 when they travel to Moshannon Valley.
