On Saturday, our Lady Blue Devil Softball team hosted the Lady Golden Eagles of Tyrone in a typical Bellwood-Antis/Tyrone rivalry game.

The Blue Devils won 13-0 in a mere 5 innings, thanks to the mercy rule. It was B-A’s fourth 10-run rule win this season and its third straight game scoring at least 13 runs.

Senior Taylor Shildt only gave up two hits, along with striking out nine. She never gave up a hit until the fourth inning, and continuously sat down batter after batter.

“It felt good to perform well, especially since it’s my senior season against Tyrone,” Shildt said. “This is usually a high-energy game.”

B-A posted 13 hits, with Shildt leading the team with four. Convery destroyed Tyrone pitchers, going 3-for-3 with a whopping six RBI’s, four of those coming off of a grand slam in the third.

“It’s great to get a double and a grand slam after being in a hitting slump for a few games,” said Convery. “Now I need tobe consistent with every game.”

The Lady Blue Devils next bout is against Claysburg-Kimmel in an ICC match up at home today.
