The lady Blue Devils Basketball team has now won nine games in a row after defeating Everett Wednesday night by a score of 57-47.

In the process, senior Karson Swogger surpassed 2016 B-A grad Nathan Davis to become the top-scoring basketball player at Bellwood-Antis regardless of gender. Nathan ended his career with 2,049. Karson now has 2,051 and is within reach of the Blair County scoring record of 2,187 held by Lacey Claar of Claysburg-Kimmel.

Despite Swogger’s consistent scoring, B-A started off slow last night, ending the first quarter down 6-2.  The Lady Blue Devils ignited an 8-0 run in the second quarter to take the lead 20-19 going into the half.

The Lady Devils came out of half-time looking to take a big lead, and scored 16 points in the third quarter. But Everett wouldn’t be shaken and kept themselves in the game with14 points to trail 36-33 at the end of the third.

It was with four minutes left in the fourth quarter when Karson hit an acrobatic layup to put Bellwood up nine points and also give Karson the Bellwood scoring record.  The girls then scored a couple more key baskets down the stretch to help secure the win.

Karson Swogger dropped in a game high 22 points, Freshman Alli Campbell added 14 points, and the Lady Devils got 11-all in the second half- from Makayla Carles.

The B-A girls have now gotten their tenth win on the season, improving to 10-2.  The Lady Devils’ next game is this Friday, when they travel to Glendale. Tip off for the varsity game will be at 7:30.
