In an unprecedented turn of events the Bellwood-Antis Invitational, scheduled for today has been postponed.

Mr. Nick Lovrich, the boys varsity track and field coach, made the difficult decision.

The event was postponed due to the severe weather forecasted for later today.

This is the first time a cancellation prior to the event has occurred, Mr. Lovrich said.

“It’s best for the safety of the players and the spectators,” Mr. Lovrich said.

Mr. Lovrich said has been communicating with other schools since 5 a.m. The rescheduled date is tomorrow at  3:45. Up to 17 schools had planned to take part in the invitational.

While Mr. Lovrich was disappointed to have to postpone the event, many players were happy.

“I look at it as a plus,” said senior Ethan McGee. We get another day to practice after the weekend. I feel it’s hard to perform your best after mentally relaxing over the weekend.”

Classmate Jarrett Taneyhill agreed and said he could use the extra practice.

“I’m happy it was postponed because I haven’t been throwing well,” said Taneyhill, who throws the javelin.  “Hopefully I can gain some confidence at practice today.”
