LESSONS FROM THE MAN UPSTAIRS: He Heals
When we hear the word “healing”, we suddenly connect it with the word “broken”. But not all the time should these words be affiliated with each other. Actually, the word “healing” can refer to a completely different situation where you are not broken at all, just simply…healing.
I’ve been feeling very busy lately, between this last week and just in general there has been a lot going on. I had made two school trips this past week; one that drained me emotionally, not necessarily physically. On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to go to Hershey and receive an honorable mention award for my blog, yay! The other trip was even a little more exciting; I went to states in speech league! It was such an incredible experience going with my one of my best friends, Alivia, and with my two absolute favorite teachers in the world (besides my mama), Mrs. Cunningham and Mrs. Padula (little S/O to Mrs. P for making so many trips this past week and being so strong, and Mrs. C with some impeccable driving) Anyways, I got home and was just so emotionally drained. Going from being on such a high for about 24 hours, and then coming home, it all came to such an abrupt stop.
I cried. I cried a lot, believe it or not. It is one of the hardest things in life to see good things come to an end. For me, my junior year of speech league is over and I feel wrecked. Speech league is everything to me and to see me only have one more year left with my speech family is heart wrenching. You almost feel like everything that is good coming up in life such as summer and vacations, simply seems meaningless when you are in such an anxious state. However, there is always a however.
However, God has not forgotten about you. You—who has been feeling weak and as though the rug has been pulled right out from under you. You—who is scared all the goodness is gone and won’t return. You—who in the past, has looked to the Lord above to care for you. We constantly look to the wrong sources to take care of us. People and paychecks are simply are not the answer. Look to God for help and put your faith and trust in Him. He is going to help you KEEP GOING. Keep on keeping on.
In Mark 10:46-52, there is a story about a blind man who has faith that Jesus will give him sight. And what do you know? The man sees! He was not sick, yet verse 52 says, “and Jesus said to him, ‘Go, for your faith has healed you.’ Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.” This man was healed by faith. If you have faith that God will heal your mind, you will be healed, because sometimes we are not broken at all, but we are worn, and we need God’s help to overcome these instances where we can’t do it on our own.
No one can handle the day by themselves. You can try, but you will fail—guaranteed. Without God, we are nothing. He created us to need Him. The world is a needy place, so do not turn to it for help. Depend on the Lord alone, because He cares for you. It isn’t easy, I’ll be the first to admit—it is SO hard to give your worries to the Lord. When hard times come and when good times end and it feels like nothing good will come out of tough circumstances, God seems farther and farther and farther and farther away. But He is always there, He is always working for you, and in you. Remember, “I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
It’s OKAY to cry. It’s OKAY to be needy. It’s OKAY to need healing. It’s OKAY to give your worries to Him. You and God, you’re a team. An UNSTOPPABLE team.
Deuteronomy 31:9-10 — “The Lord your God will then make you successful in everything you do. He will give you many children and numerous livestock, and he will cause your fields to produce abundant harvests, for the Lord will again delight in being good to you as he was to your ancestors. The Lord your God will delight in you if you obey his voice and keep the commands and decrees written in this Book of Instruction, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and soul.”
