It’s Autism Awareness Month and freshman Haley Campbell is doing her part in helping teens with special needs learn and feel included! After school she works with students with special needs at State College High School.

Haley says “we do fun worksheets and activities to keep them interacting.”

Haley works specifically with students who are unable to participate in classes with other students in the school. She told us, “We decorate their classroom and it’s so fun to watch them get excited about it!”

She has been involved since 2016, and she plans to continue helping the students out.

“I fell in love with the work they were doing there! I volunteered once and I couldn’t stop!”

While in school, she spends a lot of her time in the art room. Outside of school Haley also runs track, participates in the musical, and is currently working on practicing for speech league nationals! She also enjoys spending time with her friends and family.
