Devils roll to win over Mount Union
Last Friday night, the Blue Devils found a way to keep focused on the game in front of them, despite preparing for a big game against 7-1 Tussey Mountain. B-A won against Mount Union 42-0.
The Devils are on a 7-game win streak and stand at 7-1, 7-0 in the ICC.
This has been the fourth time that the team has achieved a 42 point score.
Friday night the Devils had a total of 263 total yards, while limiting MU to 59 rushing yards. Joe Dorminy led the team with 51 rushing yards. Quarterback, Shawn Wolfe, completed 3 of 3 passes, totaling 84 passing yards.
BA scored a total of 5 touchdowns in the first quarter to build a 35-0 lead.
To start off the game, Zach Mallon had a wide open 89-yard kickoff return catch to help the boys get the momentum pumping.
“Before the game, Coach Lovrich told us that we were going to return a kickoff for a touchdown,” said tailback Alex Frederick.
Junior Troy Walker chimed in for Bellwood with a pick-six and a 2-yard run to make it 28-0 with 3:51 left in the opening period.
Senior Alex Frederick had a 9-yard touchdown during the first quarter.
The Devils didn’t just take big strides in the “win-loss” column, they took strides as a team to achieve their goals.
“You can’t focus on whether a team is 0-7 or 7-0,” said senior Trenton Gonder. “When you do that, that’s when they come back on you.”
BA will face their biggest competition of the season this Friday night, senior night.
