The Bellwood-Antis boy’s basketball team is preparing for its first playoff game of the 2019 season against West Shamokin, on Saturday in the District 6 3A tournament.

The Devils went 15-6 in their regular season and closed the regular season with a three-game winning streak before losing to Everett in the ICC championship last week.

The Devils are still excited for the start of playoffs, even know they don’t know much about West Shamokin, said head coach Kevin Conlon.

“I have got to be honest, I don’t know much about West Shamokin as we don’t play any Heritage Conference teams … You can tell they are a good team by their strong record and teams they’ve beaten,” he said.

West Shamokin is coming in hot with a 16-5 record,  winning their last 6 out of its last 7 games, but B-A is coming in just as hot after winning 8 games in a row in near the end of the regular season.

B-A is led by seniors Mason Yingling and Nathan Wolfe. Yingling is averaging 18.8 points per game, while Wolfe is averaging a double-double with 14.9 points and 11 boards per game.

West Shamokin is the four seed, while BA is one under in the fifth seed.

If the Devils come out on top, they will play the winner of Ligonier Valley vs. Central Cambria.

If the Devils get the win it guarantees them a run at states, and at least 3 more games as four teams advance from 3A into the PIAA playoffs.

The last time B-A made is to the PIAA playoffs was  in 2017.
