Devils drop second Curve Classic game
April 8, 2019
On Saturday the Blue Devil baseball team took on Saint Joe’s in a consolation game in the Curve Classic.
The Devils came up short of a win yet again, losing 7-4 late in the game.
The loss was B-A’s second in a row and dropped the Devils’ record to 3-4 overall.
Errors killed B-A again.
The Devils had nine errors throughout the game, making it tough for B-A to came back from.
Another big thing that killed the Blue Devils was leaving men on base. The team stranded a total of 20 people on base, four coming from Mark Stewart, four coming from Jack Luensmann and three coming from Travis Luensmann. However, every batter in B-A’s lineup left at least one runner hanging.
The Dutchmen got up 2-0 in the first inning before the Devils tied the game in the fourth. But St. Mary’s answered with a five-run fifth to put the game out of reach.
Nick Plank, who’s hitting .333, continued to tear the cover off the ball, logging two hits, including a double.
B-A will now move back onto regular season games. They will play Juniata Valley at home tomorrow at 4:30.
