Last week marked the official start of spring sports and the BA softball team looks to have a solid season after not getting to play at all last year. Covid-19 shut the school down on March 13, 2020 which brought an end to the 2020 spring sports season.

This year the Devils are led by first year head coach James Bollinger. Bollinger was a junior high softball coach for three years, and he coached baseball for almost 20 years.

Coach Bollinger is taking the place of coach Jim Payne. Payne coached BA for over a decade and led the team to two district titles.

The softball team has had some down years recently. In 2018 the Lady Blue Devils had a 2-14 record and in 2019 they finished with another losing record of 8-11. BA ended the 2019 season on a 4 game winning streak and looked for these wins to carry over to the 2020 season. Unfortunately, no games were played in 2020.

Coach Bollinger hopes to lead B-A to a winning season this year.

ā€œIā€™m extremely excited to be given this opportunity to coach this great group of girls, and be a part of this program,ā€ he told the BluePrint earlier this year.

The softball team will look for some leaders to immerge and take charge this season and set the tone early. This year’s seniors include Gabriella Finn, Attie Poorman, Abbey Snyder, and Kaitlyn Robison.

After a year off, everyone is anxious for the softball season to start. Good luck to the girls this year. Go BA!
