Bellwood-Antis well represented at Altoona Area Igloo Invitational
On Saturday the boys and girls track team traveled to Altoona to compete in the Altoona Area Igloo Invitational at Mansion Park.
There were multiple place winners form both the boys and girls in numerous events. Zach Mallon and Joe Wertz led the way with a pair of top four finishes at the meet, which includes schools of all classifications.
On the girls side, sophomore Alexis Lovrich made her debut with a top-five finish in the 1600.
For the boys:
Sean Mallon placed 3rd in the boys 200 meter dash and 7th in the boys 100 meter dash.
Zach Mallon placed 7th in the boys triple jump and 4th in the long jump. He went over 20 feet in the long jump and 40 in the triple jump.
Joe Wertz placed 4th in boys shot put and 6th in boys discus. In the shot, his best event, Wertz threw over 47 feet.
Hunter Shawley placed 6th in the boys 110 meter hurdles.
The boys 4×400 relay team placed 8th.
For the girls:
Sophomore Lydia Worthing was 4th in girls pole vault
Senior Emily Martin was 8th in girls pole vault
Sicily Yingling placed 8th in the girls 400 meter dash.
Alexis Lovrich placed 5th in the girls 1600 meter run and 7th in the 3200 meter run.
The girls 4×400 relay team placed 8th.
The track team looks to continue their success today in their meet against Bedford and in their meet on Thursday against Hollidaysburg.
