Last Tuesday, the volleyball team opened up their season with a 3-0 sweep over Curwensville; however, the team has yet to play since that day due to multiple COVID cancellations from Mount Union and Everett.

Junior Hailee McConnell says the team has remained optimistic. “It hasn’t really affected us too much” Hailee said. “When a game gets cancelled, we can still work at practice and focus on the next game.”

The Golf has also been faced with COVID cancellations with yesterday’s match against Everett/Tussey Mountain being postponed.

Sophomore Golfer Jake Mercer was open about the negative effects on the golf team from the COVID issues. “The cancellations have affected the team because right as we are prepared for a team the rug is pulled out from under us and its hard to refocus for the next game, especially with only a couple hours of warning like yesterday.”

Even with 2021 having shades of normalcy, the COVID-19 pandemic unfortunately is still a pressing issue in the current world of high school sports.
