Bellwood students wrap up PSAT

On Wednesday, October 15, 2014, Bellwood-Antis students took the PSAT’s.

Guidance Counselor, Mrs. Butler, had some good information on how the PSAT helps and also had some advice to give students who are taking the PSAT.

It is important for students to take the PSAT.

Mrs. Butler said, “It is good practice for SATs and it is linked to the National Merit Scholarship, so if you score high on it you may be able to receive money for college.”

Students can easily prepare for the PSAT through practice. When you sign up for the PSAT you receive a practice book that you should study.  It has practice questions and tips for the exam.  You can also go to College Board’s website for more practice materials.

Mrs. Butler said there is a lot that students can get out of taking the PSAT.

“Students can get insight into what the SATs are like. They also get connected to My College Quick Start by taking the PSAT and this gives students valuable resources for college planning,” she said.

Mrs. Butler will help any students that have questions about the PSAT. They can also ask a teacher for help if they need help in a particular academic area.

Mrs. Butler also had information for students planning to take the PSAT.

“Make sure you read the practice guide given to you when you sign up, get a good night’s sleep and eat breakfast on test day,” she said.
