Chelsea McCaulsky’s 18 points against Penns Manor played a big role in B-A’s consolation game win.

After their loss in the district semis, the girls looked to improve their state playoff seeding when they traveled to Penns Manor to take on the Comets in the consolation game. The winner of the game would take on the loser of the WPIAL, with the loser taking on the winner.

Bellwood came out on a fiery start scoring 14 points, and held the Lady Comets to just 7 points in the first quarter. Bellwood continued their hot start in the second quarter extending their lead to 31-15 going into halftime.

The Lady Comets bounced back in the third quarter cutting Bellwood’s lead to just 8 going into the fourth quarter of play. With the game on the line, Bellwood answered. The Lady Devils were not only able to hold onto their lead, Bellwood dominated the last quarter winning the game 59-44.

Bellwood was led in big part thanks to senior Jaidyn McCracken, and junior duo Lydia Worthing and Chelsea McCaulsky. Jaidyn scored 14 points, while also dominating the glass grabbing 14 rebounds and notching her 6th double-double of the year. Chelsea scored a team high 18 points, and Lydia added 13 points and 10 rebounds of her own.

Freshman Leigha Clapper has stepped up for the Lady Devils in the postseason. Leigha scored 17 points in the loss against McCort and then followed that up by adding another 6 points in the victory.

“It wasn’t really a good game but it was a win. I’m excited to move on. We’re pretty confident we can win in the first round.” said Leigha.
