ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Vincent Cacciotti
Last Friday, The Bellwood Blue Devils Baseball team traveled to Mount Union to take on the Trojans. Sophomore Vincent Cacciotti was the lone bright spot for B-A in the loss going 2-2 with 2 doubles and an RBI. following his breakout from the plate, Vincent had a pitching performance which saw him go three innings without giving up a run. These performance have earned Vincent the Athlete of the Week award from the Blueprint.
Vincent has started the year off very strong for the Blue Devils. He has a strong batting average of .400 with 2 doubles in the first two games.
Vincent is looking to step up into his starting role this year, starting at third base for the Blue Devils. When asked about his bigger role Cacciotti said “stepping up to play a larger role this year is an exciting task because it comes with more of a challenge to flow with the lineup. I hope to contribute to the team as much as I can.”
Vincent has attributed much of his success to his teammates, family and coaches. “Along with my large family, I have been fortunate enough to have coaches that are well-versed in the game of baseball. I have also become close with many teammates that I have played with, and they have pushed to play at top performance to prepare me for my first varsity Blue Devil baseball season.”
Vincent hopes to keep up his early season success next week as the Blue Devils host the Glendale Vikings and Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs, both games’ first pitch are set for 4:30pm.
Congratulations Vincent and good luck the rest of the season!!
