B-A hopes to use books for as long as possible

Bellwood Antis English department is planning to bring back a summer program this June!

The department is attempting to revive summer reading after doing without one for eight years. This program consists of students choosing between several books, reading the books over a week in summer vacation, coming in for one or two sessions to discuss the book, and then participating in group activities facilitated by members of the English Department.

Department Chairperson Mr. Naylor says, “I am in the process now of announcing the program to students and assessing their interests. Ive already seen a number of kids who want to take part. Its been almost 10 years since we’ve done summer reading so it will take some time to rebuild student interest.”

Students can sign up with Mr. Naylor or their own English teacher. A list of books for selection will be available soon.

Students should definitely try this summer program to improve reading comprehension or at least to get 5% extra credit on the 1st 9 weeks in English grade in 2022.
