Recently, two former Bellwood-Antis athletes, Travis Luensmann and Alli Campbell, won two separate awards for their athletic and academic performances.

Travis, who graduated in 2020, earned the Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 27-April 1. It’s an award given to those players in the Big Ten Conference who have outstanding games, and Travis did just that in Saturday’s win over Indiana. Travis entered the game in the 6th inning and would go onto to strike out 10 batters to protect a 4-2 lead.

This year, Travis is 4-1 with a 3.06 ERA in 32.1 innings holding his opponents to a .188 average while recording 36 strikeouts. Travis also earned his first save of the season in Saturday’s game.

Travis is the first to win this award for Penn State since Dante Biasi in 2019.

“I am humbled to have been selected for this week’s Big Ten Co-Pitcher of the week,” Travis said. “I look to continue to work and improve each day.”

Alli, meanwhile, recently earned recognition as a member of the Big Ten All Academic Team.

The 2020 B-A grad and two-time PIAA champion was one of six Lady Lions to make the team. Also honored were Ali Brigham, Ymke Brouwer, Anna Camden, Leilani Kapinus, and Makenna Marisa.

To earn this recognition, an athlete must be a full-time student, participating on a varsity team, holding a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.

After transferring from Notre Dame and missing a year with an injury, Alli was a major contributor for Penn State during in November and December before another injury cut short her season. She appeared in 10 games.
