B-A will face Bishop Guilfoyle in Sideline Cancer Homecoming game

Blue Devils are ready to take on BG.

Tonight, Bellwood will face Bishop Guilfoyle at home for the Sideline Cancer Homecoming game. The Marauders are coming off of a  close 28-27  upset loss Friday against Tyrone, while the Blue Devils are coming off of their first victory against Philipsburg. The Devils are now 1-5, while BG is 3-3.

Right now, the Marauders are struggling with injuries, as 5 of their top contributors are out for this week’s game. This sparks some hope in the Blue Devils. If they play like they did last week then they could definitely come out of this game with a victory.

Senior Jordan Hescox says, “We have been primarily working on stopping the pass this week, as well as trying to limit big yardage plays. If we execute correctly, then a win could definitely fall our way.”

Even without some top starters, BG is dangerous behind quarterback Chase Kissell, who threw for 254 yards a week ago.

B-A’s offense relies primarily on the run and freshman Alex McCartney, who has 760 yards and is averaging 126 yards per game.

2023 Homecoming court (Julia Johnson)

This game is the 2023 Homecoming game. The Homecoming court consists of senior girls Chloe Brown, Kate Heisler, Olivia Hess, Shawna Lovrich, and Miranda Tornatore. One will be crowned Hoco queen.

This game will also be a Sideline Cancer game where both teams will be fighting for the “I Can” Cup. All the money raised this year for this program from both Bellwood and Bishop Guilfoyle will be going to Melody Plummer as she battles colon cancer.
