The Blue Devils fell to the Richland Rams last Friday night in a tough matchup. B-A traveled to Richland for the District 6 2A Semifinal.
The Blue Devils Ended their season 7-5. The Rams now matchup against the Bishop McCort Crusher in the District 6 2A championship.
“I feel that we never really played to our fullest, and that we could have done more in every aspect of the game,” Junior Alex McCartney said.
The Rams opened with the first score of the game, with 7:58 Brayden Knepper rushed in for a 2-yard touchdown.
The next drive Bellwood couldn’t convert on the next drive, giving Richland the ball quick.
With 2:32 Richland earned their second score of the quarter on a 10-yard rushing touchdown from Jacob Regan.
The Rams were up 14-0 by the end of the first quarter.
The first few minutes of the second quarter were quiet, until 4:34 when Richland’s Alex Bond caught a 46-yard pass from Regan.
Richland retained possession right away, and through another touchdown pass, this time to Arnold Mugerwa for 62 yards.
The score going into half was 28-0.
The third quarter was quiet with only one score.
With 6:22 Murgerwa caught his second touchdown pass of the night for 9 yards.
The score going into the fourth quarter was 35-0.
6 seconds into the fourth quarter Alex McCartney got Bellwood’s first score on a 5-yard rushing touchdown.
Bellwood’s defense held strong in the fourth quarter.
Bellwood scored the last points of the game on a 1-yard QB sneak up the middle for a touchdown.
The final of the game was 35-12.
The Blue Devils are returning most of their skill positions including Alex McCartney, Chase Plummer, Ethan Shawley, Jeffery Waite, Jackson Dorminy, Curtis Shedlock, and Bradyn Partner.
Bellwood’s offensive line is losing the most including Christian (Chug) Jennings, Colin Burroughs, Jayce Quick, Logan Ridgway, Dylan Eckenrod, and Quinn Focht.
