
The Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference named fall sport all-stars for this season last week, headlined by three B-A athletes who were named to the first team in football and soccer.

Alex McCartney and Chase Plummer got the nod for their outstanding football seasons, while freshman Miles Smearman was a first-teamer in soccer.
In all, Bellwood-Antis athletes were named to one of three levels of teams. Nine of those athletes were named for football, and the other two were named for soccer.
McCartney, a junior, was named first team at running back after calculating B-A’s highest offensive stats of the season. He had 245 carries for 1,371 yards, averaging 5.8 yards per carry. He was a huge part of the offense, having 22 total touchdowns on the season. McCartney also made honorable mention linebacker with 1 interception and 52 total takes.
“It feels great knowing our team is made up of some of the best players in the conference,” said McCartney, who had the second thousand-yard season of his career.
Classmate Plummer was named for first team linebacker and second team running back. On the defensive side he was a big part, having 103 tackles and an interception that was returned for a pick six against Tyrone. As a running back, Plummer also put up impressive number, with 123 carries and 836 yards for an average of 6.8 yards per carry and 9 touchdowns.
Both Plummer and McCartney missed last season due to ACL tears.
“It’s another goal checked off,” said Plummer. “To get this achievement after coming back from my injury and working harder than ever is very rewarding. I’m very honored to receive this and thankful for my teammates.”

Senior Chug Jennings was named for second team offensive line, defensive end, and athlete. Chug was a dominant all-around player this season, with 38 tackles and 2 sacks. Chug was also a major part of the offensive line.
Senior Colin Gibbons was named second team defensive back. He had 5 interceptions and 7 pass deflections with 43 tackles. He also was named honorable mention wide receiver, having 19 receptions for 217 yards and 2 touchdowns.
Senior Logan Ridgway was named second team offensive lineman. He led the offensive line this season, as a key ingredient to the Devils’ powerful running game.
Junior Ethan Shawley was named second team tight end after a great season where he had 15 receptions for 326 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also was an honorable mention for defensive end racking up 4 sacks and 31 tackles.
Senior Jayce Quick and Collin Burroughs were named both honorable mention offensive lineman being a part on the line.
Junior Jackson Dorminy was honorable mention defensive back after posting 48 tackles and 4 interceptions with, 2 of them being touchdown returns.

On the pitch, Smearman and senior Marissa Cacciotti represented the soccer teams.
Smearman was named first team defense. The boy’s soccer team went 13-7 on the season, making the District 6 4A championship. Miles also played as a kicker for the football team.
“I am very honored to achieve this,” said Smearman. “I was very surprised.”
He credited his family and friends for driving him to success on the soccer field.
Senior Marissa Cacciotti was named for second team offense. It was the second straight season Cacciotti earned all LHAC honors, after making the first team squad as a junior.
Both the boys and girls soccer teams enjoyed successful seasons that ended in the playoffs. The Golden Eagles made it as far as the District 6 title game while the girls lost in the first round to Hollidaysburg, one week playing the Lady Tigers to a draw.
