Anthony Caracciolo scored a career-high 32 on Friday to lead B-A over Juniata Valley.

The boys basketball team took on former ICC opponent Juniata Valley Friday night at home. Bellwood had a dominant win, with a score of 77-54.

In attendance at the game was the Bellwood-Antis 1973-1974 boys basketball team, which had a perfect 22-0 season 50 years ago while winning back to back Juniata Valley League championships.

The team was honored at halftime.

Bellwood started out hot, going on a 10-0 run to start the first quarter. Juniata Valley didn’t get their first points until late into the first quarter. Bellwood held the Juniata Valley to just 8 points in the first and second quarter. Going into halftime the boys had a lead of 38-16. Senior Anthony Caracciolo had 26 of the 38 first half points for Bellwood.

Juniata Valley tried to get some offense started in the third and fourth quarter, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit they faced in the first half. This is the best offensive game Bellwood has had all season.

Anthony Caracciolo got the praise of being face guarded throughout the second half, but he still ended with a game high 32 points. Conner Bardell was also a key contributor, adding 14 himself.

Monday night, the boy’s traveled to play the Williamsburg Blue Pirates. The Blue Devils won 49-30 in a great defensive performance. The team improved its record to 4-9 and looked superior against ICC opponents.

The Blue Devils came out hot, outscoring Williamsburg 16-4 in the first quarter. Bellwood limited Williamsburg’s Rowan Gorsuch to just 7 points. Gorsuch has been a scoring machine against the ICC, but Bellwood was able to shut him down.

B-A continued their first half dominance adding 15 points and allowing only 7 in the second quarter. Bellwood’s Holden Schreier scored 10 points in the second quarter and led all scorers with 23.

The Blue Devils held a 31-11 lead at half.

The Blue Pirates went on a 6-0 run to start the third quarter. Holden Schreier drained a three to end the Williamsburg run and take the momentum back. The Blue Devils held an 18 point lead heading into the fourth.

Bellwood received 40 of their 49 points from Holden Schreier and Anthony Caracciolo, who had 23 and 17 respectively.

B-A held onto their big lead in the fourth and the Blue Devils left Williamsburg with a win.

Bellwood travels to take on the Tyrone Golden Eagles Wednesday night in a rematch from earlier in the season that the Blue Devils lost.
