Three Bellwood-Antis wrestlers continued a history-making season last weekend, propelling B-A’s first girls wrestling season to new heights.

Hailey Loupe, Ellie Patterson, and Juliette Cuevas each advanced to the PIAA central region tournament with the chance to compete in Hershey for a state title.

Districts were held at UPJ (University of Pitt Johnstown) and this was the first ever District 6 girls championship.

Sophomore Juliette Cuevas wrested in the 100-lb. weight class and finished 3rd; sophomore Hailey loupe wrestled at 106 and finished 5th; and sophomore Ellie Patterson wrestled 112 and finished 4th.

The top 6 all advanced to regionals, which will be held in Milton, March 2nd.

All girls this season wrestled on the BA’s boys team. Cuevas went 5-12 but 3-1 against girls; Loupe went 2-2 against girls; Patterson went 5-5 but was 2-2 versus girls.

“I’m very impressed with the ladies for their wrestling this past weekend. It’s nice to see them advance to the next tournament.”

Loupe had already made history in December when she became the first female wrestler to win a match for the boys team.
