The teachers and staff at BA will spend the next couple of months cutting weight to raise money for Mini-THON.

The Biggest Loser contest in Bellwood-Antis has been going on for at least 15 years, and it’s back again in 2024, encouraging teachers to shed some pounds for a good cause.

The contest is to see which teachers can lose the highest percentage of their weight. This year there are 20-25 teachers participating in this contest.

The contest is sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and all funds this year go to B-A Mini-THON.

Over the years, teachers have said it motivates them to become healthier and push through. Each week of the contest teachers have to be weighed in to track their progress. The competition takes place at al three buildings in the Bellwood-Antis School District – the middle and high school as well as Myers Elementary.

Cost for teachers was $10 to enter. Of that, 25% goes to the male winner, 25% to the female winner, and 50% to Mini-THON.

Mr. Lovrich knows the hard work and dedication to win this challenge.

“We started just to help people try and make a healthy change in their lives,” he said. “Sometimes just the joining a group helps you follow thru with a goal you are trying to attain.”

The contest is running through March 27.
