Before you can make it big you have to have big dreams.
Little Shop of Horrors was one of the most ambitious productions B-A’s music department had ever attempted back in March, and it was a resounding success.
Last Saturday, those big ambitions were awarded big time at the annual ISAACS Awards.
B-A’s production won in 3 different categories.
“(Director) Molly Burns and I strive to ensure our musical students achieve their own individual fullest potential,” said music director David Logue. “To see the students rewarded for all of their hard work is an absolute joy! The successes these students achieve point to their dedication, not only as an actor/musician, but to their character as individuals. Yes, each student is dedicated to the musical, but their dedication to their academics, personal life, and teammates is what I believe sets them apart personally and musically.”
Senior Christian Jennings won for Best Actor in a Male Role for his performance as Audrey II, theĀ bloodthirsty plant at the center of the musical.
Seniors Alyssa Briggs, Alia Bennett, and Jadyn Soboleski won for Best Ensemble for their work as a musical trio that helped move forward the plot and provide musical interludes throughout the play.
Lily Briggs (student stage manager), Thad Norton, Dean Hoffer, andĀ Lucas Fulmer won for Student Crew (Prop management/design, puppeteers, stage crew, etc.), no small feat in the production that featured one of the most elaborate sets to be used at B-A in recent memory, as well as an enormous talking plant that was controlled by Norton and Fulmer.
